	Wing Commander Clive R. Caldwell this was his personal Spitfire Mk VIII A58-484 Clive flew combat in North Africa in 1941 and 1942 scoring 20.5 victories while flying Tomahawks and Kittyhawks with Nos 250 and 112 squadrons, earning the nickname "Killer" He returned to Australia in late 1942 and was given command of No 1 Fighter Wing. Flying out of the Darwin area he scored an additional seven victories over Japanese aircraft raising his score to 27.5 enemy aircraft destroyed. Caldwell was the highest scoring Australian of WWII his awards include the DSO, DFC & Bar and the Polish Cross of Valour. This is a repaint (textures only) for the AvHistory 3gb Spitfire 9c m61 VSH. 	RAAF 457 (Grey Nurse)Sqd, Spitfire MkVIII Wing Commander Robert Gibbes (AA31917) Serving as Deputy Wing Leader to Clive Caldwell, Robert Gibbs achieved no victories in this Mk.Vlll due to the dearth of enemy activity in the area.Squadron Leader Gibbs returned to Australia in 1944 and flew Spitfire Mk.Vllls in the Southwest Pacific until the end of the war. Gibbs established Gibbes Sepik Airways in January 1948 and began operations out of New Guinea with surplus war aircraft.For the next 10 years his airline played an important role in the exploration and development of the Sepik River and central highlands of this area.
